Richard Strauss (1864-1949)
Composer, born in Munich, Germany. He is best known for his symphonic poems, such as Also sprach Zarathustra (1895-6, Thus Spoke Zarathustra) which was used as the theme for the movie 2001: A Space Odyessy.
