Square-jawed, talented, but humorless actor, primarily in strong supporting roles. Made an impressive movie debut in Repeat Performance (47). Memorable films include Fourteen Hours (51), La Strada (54), Moby Dick (56), The Brothers Karamazov (58), and Hitler (62). Starred in the TV series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" in the 1960s.
